Summer Fun 2010
Summer 2010
Ahhh! Summer. It has been a hot one. This has been one of our busiest summers ever! We had three weeks of company followed by 4 weekends away! The kids have proved they are up for adventure and Will and I couldn’t be more thrilled. It is so nice to have little adventurers, because we are happiest on the go!! At the start of summer we rented a big mountain house with some friends and got to do some climbing with a bunch of families up in the Poudre Canyon. This place is so special to us and especially Will since he developed so much of the area and I think it is some of the best climbing around. We discovered the site “VRBO” and it has proven to be a great place to find inexpensive ventures. Grandma and Grandpa LeMaire came for Memorial Day weekend. We enjoyed the Creekfest and our new front row location for the Bolder Boulder. It was hard not to run it this year, we have run for the past 3 years, but Will and I decided if we are here for Memorial Day we should either run it or enjoy some time up in the mountains. We had the pleasure of hosting Rollin’s 1st birthday and Jess’s 31st birthday BBQ. It was a fiesta with a treys leeches’ cake and a piñata for all the kids. The girls enjoyed quality time with their cousins and were so sad to see them leave. Grammy and Pap Pap came for an extended visit and we ventured to the desert of Moab together. It was fun and hot! Lucette went river rafting for the first time. I love rafting and she proved to really enjoy being on the river with Pap Pap and Will and I. We got to visit for the first time, Arches National Park. Will and I had been to quite a few other Utah national parks, but never to Arches. It was so pretty and the girls were great hikers. Moab is a great little place and I would love to go back again. Will and the girls camped out for Father’s Day and roasted marshmallows in the backyard. It was fun to watch from inside the house, but Violet demanded to sleep in her crib. We have had really hot weather so climbing trips locally have been difficult. We have had to go to higher elevations to explore and fishing in the canyons has been a great summertime activity. We went with a group of friends to the Rockies fireworks game. The best way to celebrate the 4th of July in Denver and the fireworks are amazing. This year Violet was enamored by them and even more enamored by her Uncle Jared (Jess’s new flame!). Sage and Violet both stayed up to enjoy and the hot dogs were delicious. Will the kids and I then traveled down to Cheyenne Mountain Resort and had a blast on the lake and pool grounds. We took the kids to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It is an interactive zoo and you can touch the animals. It is on a “mountain” so it is a workout as well. The next weekend we traveled to Breckenridge. I have determined this is my favorite mountain town and the company was amazing. The Rubins, Schaffers and us rented a great house and spent the weekend celebrating the Rubin’s new baby. The girls headed to the spa and the boys played with the kiddos. We got to take the kids on the gondola and Lucette seems excited to try skiing again this year. We have been home now for the past two weeks and are gearing up for our family visits and ocean breezes. We can’t wait for Pawleys and the sand between our toes.
